Create an alert based on logged data points

Here's how to create an alert based on the history of logged data points in Evolo. This type of alert can be used, for example, to detect anomalies in energy consumption.

Here's how to do it

  1. Go to Settings and select Alarms.

  2. Open the Settings tab.

  3. Click Create New Alarm and select Log.

  4. Select one or more log points.

  5. Enter threshold values for when the alarm should be triggered.

  6. Select the time period for which the alarm should be monitored.

  7. If desired, add a relationship to a view.

  8. Save the alert.

Fields

  • Log points: one or more log points to which the alarm applies. You can only select log points with numerical values that do not already have an alarm.

  • Name: the name of the alarm. If you select one log point, the name is automatically populated from the log point. If you select multiple log points, the name is set automatically.

  • Description: optional text about the alarm.

  • Low Alarm and High Alarm: the thresholds against which the alarm is checked. Enter at least one of them. Standard logs are checked against the average value for the period. Cumulative logs are checked against the total accumulated value for the period.

  • Period: Hour, Day, Week, or Month. The default is Day. The “Validity Period (hours)” option can only be selected with the “Hour” period, and “Validity Period (days)” can only be selected with “Hour” or “Day.”

  • Active: Check this box to enable the alarm. If unchecked, the alarm is blocked from new events.

Log – Value

Enter the low and high alarm thresholds. These thresholds determine when the alarm is triggered

Log – Period

Select the period for which the alarm should be checked.

If you select “Day,” the alarm checks the total value for the logged data point from the last day.
