When to Use Free Placement

Use free placement when you want to:

  • place components exactly where you want them

  • use background images or floor plans

  • build process diagrams or technical overviews

  • create custom dashboards with your own layouts

Here’s how

  1. Create a new view.

  2. Select Free Layout as the view type.

  3. Open the view builder.

  4. Add a background if needed.

  5. Add components and containers.

  6. Place the elements wherever you want in the view.

  7. Save and test the view.

You can use components such as value, graph, switch, diode, and static text.

Use free placement when it’s important that the placement in the view matches the building, facility, or process you’re displaying.
