Set up Kamstrup Ready

With Kamstrup Ready, Evolo automatically retrieves meter data from your water meters so that it can be used in dashboards, reports, and energy monitoring (EOS).

Here's what you need before you start

  • Client ID, Client Secret, and Tenant—three keys that grant Evolo read access to the meter data. These are set up in Kamstrup’s READy Manager portal or can be requested from Kamstrup. Evolo requires read-only access.

  • The serial number of each meter to be connected.

How to set up the application

First, create a virtual data point for each value you want to retrieve (Configuration → Data Points, on a virtual interface).
Set the logging to “On change”: this will save a value every time the meter reports something new, typically once an hour.

  1. Go to Configuration → Applications and click Add.

  2. Select the gateway, and choose the Kamstrup Ready type.

  3. Enter the Client ID, Client Secret, and Tenant.

  4. Add one row for each value you want to retrieve: select the data point, enter the meter’s serial number in Meter ID, and select the type from the list.

  5. Save. The gateway will immediately retrieve the meter readings from the past 24 hours, and then new readings every hour.

Where can I find the Meter ID?

The Meter ID is the meter’s serial number. You’ll find it:

  • printed on the front of the meter itself

  • in READy Manager, where all meters are listed by serial number and address

Available Data Types

You can import these data types intoEvolo

Meter reading

Total water consumption, used for consumption tracking and EOS

Max. water flow

m³/h

Highest flow rate in the last period

Min. flow rate

m³/h

Lowest flow rate

Max. water temperature

°C

Highest water temperature

Min. water temperature

°C

Lowest water temperature

Max. ambient temperature

°C

Highest ambient temperature

Min. ambient temperature

Lowest temperature around the meter

Acoustic noise

(unitless)

Sound level in the pipe, Kamstrup’s indicator of a possible leak

Remaining battery life

days

Remaining battery life on the meter

Hour counter

hours

Number of operating hours since the meter was started

How quickly is the data transmitted?

Evolo Checks every hour, but does not display data more recent than what Kamstrup itself has collected from the meter. If you see no values on the first day, it’s usually because the data hasn’t reached the meter yet—there’s nothing wrong with the setup.

Tip: Start with "Meter Reading"; that’s the value most people need. The other types can be added later by editing the application.
